I bought a tamron 150-600 G2 off of Craigslist. Very happy.

Ebay, B&H, Adorama, KEH, and many many other places.
But, really, Tamron and Sigma? Are you sure, the lens you want is the Nikon 200-500, and yes, you can get it refurbished and the lens will deliver better results and be worth more than the others.
Get real, ride with the brand and ride happily ever after.

Kind of tough to shoot "wide angle" with a 200-500.
Just saying.

Depends what you are going to do with it, you have listed two very different lenses, if you are looking for a lens that is a all in one walk around lens that will compress landscapes and street scenes as well as go wide then that 18-400 might work just fine, if you are wanting to do birding or wildlife you will find yourself disappointed in the fine detail that lens will not capture.

I just got a sweet deal on a lens from KEH (Nikkor 58mm 1.4G for $1,120.00 in 'Excellent+" condition): they shipped it same day and include a 6 month warranty.
I mentioned a competitive price on Amazon (slightly lower condition and only 1 month warranty), so they threw in the hood.
Delivery to Hong Kong - went out on a Friday and arrived on Monday (international express shipping).

I see they've got the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary for $754.00

https://www.keh.com/shop/sigma-150-600mm-f-5-6-3-dg-os-hsm-c-contemporary-lens-for-nikon-95-681970.html

I have this lens and like it quite well - works really well on my D500 for birds and taking pictures of surfing from the beach.

Anyway, happy shooting!

I've been quite happy dealing with Adorama for years. You might want to keep in mind that, based on the reviews I've been reading online again 'n agian, with those telephoto lenses, there's quite a bit of compromise in terms of image quality at the long end of the focal length. My own experiences confirm what I've been reading on line. For example, with a 150 to 600 mm lens, you can expect great sharpness and resolution (i.e. image quality) up to about 400 mm. But as you approach 500, especially 600 mm, the image falls apart. Sharpness is sacrificed quite a bit, especially if you enlarge the image to 16x20 or larger. I know this to be true based on many years of personal experiences.

MPB is a company I have used and would happily use again for a used lens. They always provide a detailed description. You might consider the Nikkor 200 - 500mm f5.6. It is a truly brilliant lens. I had one on the end of my D500.

I have this lens that I use on my Nikon D7200. I bought it through Amazon from Ritz Photo in May, 2015. I'm thinking of a price of $600, and I can include the CPL lens that came with it. The lens is in perfect condition.

I generally use Adorama for used lenses and other stuff as well. I like their used quality rating system, fast shipping and Emails about my orders. Not saying others are not as good, but I have just gotten comfortable with Adorama.

Another option is lensrentals.com (rent and may be able to buy) and their sister company lensauthority.com , which sells used gear.

I have bought several used lenses over the years with great success and have saved thousands in doing so, there is no way that I could have afforded a $7,000 birding lens but was able to find a used one at a price I could make happen....

I had a Tamron 150-600mm lenes that l used with my Sony a99ii. It took great photos when l set the lens to any length but 600mm, then even in manual focus could not get this to focus so l sold the lens. After a few months l went to a camera class told them my problem and we were going thru the camera setup and l came across e Front Curtain Shutter on/off and it was set it on as default. After checking with the teacher l learned that this affects 3rd party lenes in focus mode. This is used if you are going to use old film lenes on your camera, so now l leave this mode turned off and l do not have to worry about the focus problem with the lens. This was the problem with my lens not the lens itself.
