Inpixio Eraser (about $30) works quite well. It took about 3 minutes to remove the brush. You could add the finishing touches with LR.

There is another way to remove the stick in PS, which I find easier with this type of skinny object. Select the Healing Brush Tool, and place it over the top of the stick. You will see a circle. Using the left Bracket ( [ ) key, make the circle just a little bit larger than the stick. Left click, hold down the shift key and move down the stick a little bit and left click again. Repeat this process all the way down the stick until it is gone. This method blends in the surrounding area more naturally.

This process also works wonderfully on removing electric wires and things of that nature.

It’s a great shot and definitely worth saving.

Perfect, but wouldn't he have to go the subscription route for Photoshop?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post, though I have been reading the UHH for a couple of years, and wanted to make my first question worthy of you all.

I have this picture of a Tiger that I photographed (Nikon 7200 with a Tamron 150-600) when I was in India. I would like to be able to remove the stick going up the middle of his face and maybe the second stick too. I have Lightroom 6.14, On1 2019.2 and Luminar 3, the last two as possible replacements for Lightroom since, at this time, I don't want to go to the subscription route.

So can this be done with the programs that I have, or it's too difficult to do with my experience level (a working knowledge of Lightroom and the other two I have just gotten and have not really used them yet), or worst case, I really need to use Photo Shop.

Of course! And the point is that even a couple of the Photoshop tools, used as extensions for Lightroom, add to the "value" of the $10/month plan for photographers.

WHY, oh WHY pay $10/mo for Photoshop when you can OWN Affiinity Photo for a flat-out $49. I've used it for nearly a year and have yet to discover anything that it won't do for me. My copy of Photoshop CS6 has started to gather a lot of dust.

I totally agree but the post stated the subscription route was not a favorable option. Just trying to answer the question :)

Or just look for an old copy of Photoshop CS6 and I'll bet that will give you all you need for many years to come and no monthly ransom to pay Adobe. Also take a look at Topaz Lab, it has free upgrades for life, unlike any other programme you may purchase.

Affinity is a great choice! And competitively priced. So is Photoshop Elements at about the same price during the routine promotions.

If all you want to do is a few traditional routine adjustments, make prints and send emails with your images, the Adobe subscription probably is a waste. There are even free programs like Gimp, Google Photos and Photoshop Express. They can make more sense than Affinity or PS Elements because they are free.

The $10 plan includes:
-The traditional Lightroom Classic
-The new Lightroom built around cloud and mobile distribution
-Photoshop
-A website for your work called Portfolio
-Additional features if you ever use your phone to take pictures

Use ON1 2019. It will do a great job, and you will be happy with it.

First suggestion, save a copy of the original and work only on that copy. Second idea, practice practice practice on making selections. Third, try to imagine how the fur colors will distribute under the stick - this will be tough so do not give up too soon. Good luck.

I use Elements and there you can use either of two methods. The first is to use the "lasso" to encircle a patch including the twig and some of the bacground to make a selection. Then go to Edit, Fill Selection and hit Enter making sure to choose Content Aware as the mode. This often, but not always, works surprisingly well even when the background is varied in content. The other approach is as outlined above.

I will fix it free. I can email you my Dropbox link and give it back to you same way. No charge. I will not use nor post your photo. You can repost finished product to this group to show my effort is all I ask. PM me if that is your desire.

Hi Jim, I will definitely consider your offer, but first, I want to give it a try and see how successful I am with all the helpful information that I have gotten from everyone.

LR does not work well for this type of removal. I use PS when I need to do something like this, which allows you to remove the item and repair any mistakes. I don't know if Luminar will do this well or not. You'll simply need to experiment with it.
