Dead Penguins - I never knew this!

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica?
Where do they go?
Wonder no more ! ! !
It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintain a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into, and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:
"Freeze a jolly good fellow."
"Freeze a jolly good fellow."
"Freeze a jolly good fellow."
You really didn't believe that I know anything about penguins, did you?
It's so easy to fool OLD people.

I was pretty suspicious part way thru your story. 1) My education is in Biology. 2) My wife is obsessed with Penguins and we have more books and videos about Penguins than I care to think of. 3) Even of true wouldn't the ice be filled with dead Penguins by now. Frozen birds probably do not decay fast. More likely Leopard Seals eat the dead ones. And why couldn't it have been a Fleetwood Mac song?

I remember watching a nature show many years ago where a penguin came up and dropped a pebble at one of the researchers feet during the filming. Had almost forgotten that scene until you jogged the memory.

Jane Goodall was recently interviewed about the new Disney film “Penguin”. The film involves the quest of “Steve”, an adventurous penguin determined to build a nest. After viewing the film she commented tongue in cheek to the director that it must have been extremely difficult to capture Steve’s actions as he overcame all the obstacles encountered during his quest. The director replied that Steve was in fact quite cooperative as were his several hundred stunt doubles.

I didn't believe that story from the beginning. I have seen at least 3 documentaries on penguins and if they sang "Freeze a jolly good fellow" they would have mentioned it.
