This is my tiny bee's full profile view. The view I posted of it yesterday did not illustrate its full body in the way that this one does.

Love that movie, my dad was a Brylcreem user, till he realized it came from offshore
I keep a few specimens in tubes of denatured alcohol and they are wet when I stage them. I suspect that's why this little fellows hair is in such a fuss.
I use my wife's hair dryer (because I don't have a single hair on my head) when I stage larger fuzzy insects like the hornets. This little fellow is about the size of a pencil lead.

I keep them in tubes filled with denatured alcohol and I have some that have been preserved for the better part of a year now and they are holding up quite well.
For soft bodied insects, like grubs, I boil some water and once it starts to boil, I turn off the burner. When it stops bubbling and it sits for a few minutes, I place the fresh grub into it to kill the bacteria in its gut by leaving it in the scalding hot water for a few minutes. This prevents the specimen from turning dark or black when preserved. After it's nice hot bath, I place it into the alcohol for keeping. I use the same specimens over and over in different positions, views and magnification.
