Last week. My phone rang two different times. I checked the caller ID and it showed my name and my phone number as the calling party. I already talk to myself enough so I ignored it.

I think that the only way we will get an answer would be, when we get one we cut and paste forward to #(your US Senator), #USFCC. Remember "WAKE UP AMERICA"

We have an answering machine that kicks in on the fourth ring. Certain people get special ring tones so we know which to pick up. We also have a list numbers to auto-block, but it does not take wild characters so we can’t block x-8xx-xxx-xxxx and block all 800s in one fell swoop.

OK, you folks are a very smart slice of the world population. Do you have anything that stops them cold? I have tried a couple of systems here in the USA (noMoRobo and an app for my iPhone) but they just keep coming.

About a month ago I needed a new phone system for my landline. AT&T had one with 3 or 4 options builtin to stop robo calls. I bought it and set up the option that requires the called to press # to get thur. It works perfect. All robo calls have been blocked 25 to 50 a day. The way it works is when the call comes in it rings 1 time and the machine then intercepts it and instructs the caller to push # on their phone. If that doesn't happen within a few seconds my phone hangs up. If the call is from someone that is in your directory (family members for example) the call passes straight thur.
The phone displays the called ID and keeps a record of the missed calls so that if someone were confused and did not get thru you can call them back. Hopefully I will have a year or 2 before the hackers figure out a work around or the government finds a method to stop robo calling. Of course I will probably be dead by then.

Note about the above. All technology is in the phone and not purchased from your phone company and therefore no extra charges. Also, robo callers have techniques to obtain random ID numbers and so your keying in numbers to be blocked does not work all of the time. The other day the phone rang and the ID said it was from me. I couldn't remember calling myself so I let the blocker handle the call. I hope it wasn't important! LOL

If you have a Verizon land line, when you answer one of these calls, and while the call is active, quickly press*60 and hang up.

Does this also work for Frontier land line? Some years ago, Frontier bought out Verizon and I was one of the ones who got switched automatically to Frontier.

I use a Call Blocker CPR 10000 at home, and it works perfectly. My cell phone hasn't been hit with them yet.

The real solution has to come from our lawmakers, but I suspect they are more obliged to the robocall people than they are to the people who elected them. Does anyone like robocalls? There must be money in it because they keep increasing in number. A good call blocker is the way to go.

Who are "the robocall people" that the politicians are obliged to?

Walla? You are phonetically pronouncing a French term "Voilla".

I cringe whenever I see someone spelling "voila" phonetically. Note it's just one L.
