Might need a little tune-up...

Saw this old truck along the FM road between Warrenton and Fayetteville, Texas last week. I like the first shot better because of the apparent length of the vehicle but moved over to get rid of the mailboxes growing from the roof. Looking only at the truck I don't like the 'corrected' shot as well as the truck now just looks too long. Constructive criticisms are welcome as I seem to always make some mistake. Thank goodness I'm not paying for film. These are SOOC (Sony RX10m4).

The angle of the 1st one hides more of the inside and looks simpler, seems stronger to me. 2nd shot if you get closer, maybe move the camera up or down and closer, just a slight change of angle, you might like it better. . Just a couple suggestions. I like the 1st one better too.

I am always drawn to this kind of opportunity so I like these photos. It is always difficult to criticize other people's images because everyone has a different vision for what they are looking for. That said, to me the most important thing is the vehicle - seeing it clearly, enjoying the texture, seeing the luscious detail. The sky is a bit meh on that particular day, the telephone pole and the mailboxes - stuff like that are irritating when I'm out there shooting, too. When I looked at each of them in download they all benefited from cropping. The cropping made them the true focus and created focal points and used the rule of third which IMO enhanced these particular images. You have super detail and that is what I want to see. Well, that's just me.

You did a great job. I love seeing SOOC pictures! Too much backroom cooking going on, love the reality!
Thanks!

That is one rusty Ford. Not much left of a once nice truck

Barketh, I appreciate the time you took to give me a detailed response. I, too, thought some cropping might be beneficial but wanted to get responses based on the entire photo. Like yours. Helpful. I'll be interested in seeing if I can apply the Rof3rds to see what variations I come up with. Thanks again.

Dan and the rest, thanks for taking a look and leaving your comments.
