Winds were blowing 25+ MPH, 4/12/19 and the waves just exploded whenever the came to a barrier, which made shooting at the break walls just incredible. I had such a good time, I was alone, seemingly, with all this power around me, what a feeling of awe!

Downloads are much more fun to view.

This must have been a rare high tide with rough seas. Great action!

For some reason I don't think these pictures show the full intensity of the waves slamming against the dock and lighthouse.

I hear we sort of have tides on Lake MI, about .5 inches. Rough seas, most definitely!! Thank you for viewing, and commenting.

Can you tell me that reason? I am curious. I don't think anything will demonstrate it better than being there, but what do you think would help to portray the power of those waves better?

I wish I had the answer Sue. Speed and power of waves are so hard to emotionally feel in a picture. I don't think you did anything wrong I was just trying to say how hard it is to feel the intensity in a picture.
Looked again and I think it doesn't help that the sky looks so tame. An angry sky might help but if that was happening you might not be out there.

I do understand and agree with you. I can enjoy the intensity of the lake from the photos, but the feel of total awe I experienced being there, that I cannot duplicate. I can also overcook the photos, and bring out something more from the sky, but it wouldn't be the same, and you are right, it was not how it was at that moment, and would still fall short.
