It is possibly an electrical issue for those pixels or a scratch on the sensor. Since they change color and appear to be absolutely straight across, I'd lean more towards an electrical issue with the sensor.

I am getting a line in each image on my Pentax K20D, the line is near the bottom of the image, I am attaching an image that shows the line, I have sent the camera to KEH for warranty repair only to find the is still there. Hopefully the line shows up, any ideas?

The camera is in need of repair. It's something with the sensor (physically) or the electronics inside of the camera. In any case it needs to be sent in for repair again. Or you need to replace it with a new camera.

Just a guess. The data from that array is not getting received correctly by the processor. The problem might be more than just the sensor.

Possible, but slim, especially if the lines are in all pictures.
The odds of erroneously transferring the data associated with only those pixels is astronomical.

After looking carefully at the Image I can't see a Line. Do you see it in a Print? or do you see it on your Monitor, or do you see it on your camera screen?

The line is really hard to see but it sure is there...I had to magnify the image to see it clearly.
Does it appear in the same place in each image ??
Hard to believe the service tech couldnt see it !!!!!?????
I am with the scratched sensor school. If they wont replace the camera get a refund.
Good luck !!!

I see it and it is a mystery. Does it show up in any other photos? photograph a good gray card and a white balance card and see if it shows up. Good luck.

Look through all the responses. Several of us have uploaded images with the defect highlighted.

It's not a scratched sensor because it is perfectly straight. But I'm guessing it is the sensoe because of this. Looks like a whole row ofr pixels has gone faulty?

I suspect it is a defective sensor, not just a scratch.
May I suggest taking a picture of a brightly lit white wall or piece of paper. Make sure it is well out of focus. I suspect you will see the same line but it will be sharp.

Probably on your sensor if it shows up on all of your pictures. Be sure to line it out for the KEH guys because it was hard to find. Had to blow up download to find it but it sure is there. Good Luck

I have never had that problem, but some time ago on a different forum, there was a discussion about lines across the image and the consensus was it was a sensor problem. I thought dead pixels would show up as dots in the image.

The lines are so small keh may not have detected it send a blow up of the picture so that they can see what you have ,I'm 75 and I can see it and I have macular degeneration I can't believe others can't see it.

Sorry to say... It's definitely not a scratch.

That's almost certainly a "bad row" of pixels on the sensor.

I had trouble finding it initially, too... Until I "zoomed" to the largest size on UHH with a fairly large, graphic-quality computer monitor. (Folks not looking at the largest version or using a smaller, lower resolution screen of some sort might not be able to see it).

It may be possible to "map around" the bad pixels... Otherwise the camera's sensor would need to be replaced.

It looks like a camera problem, but it always good to cover all the bases. Have you tried downloading with a different card reader or a different computer? When did you first notice the line? Were there any changes to softwares around that time?

I don't see the line. Maybe you should post a picture of just a white background so that there isn't anything distracting from seeing the line. If the line is white, try a grey background or other color.

Never mind.
