Hi, we are planning a trip to Noah's Ark, and I have a couple of questions:
(Equipment I have: 70D and 5dM4, Lenes I want to could use for this [I want to take no more two lenses and maybe a flash] )
1. EF-Ss 24mm f/2.4, 40mm f/2.4, 10-18mm, 18-135mm STM; EF 50 f/1.8, 85mm 1.8, 100mm f/2, 24-70 f/2.8, 24-105mm f/4, 70-200mm f/4. Which camera and two lenses?

2. How was the picture taking the experience with the lighting inside Noah's Ark?

3. Would I need a wide angle lens (10-18mm) to take a picture of the entire outside of the Ark?

Thanks for your recommendation!

I didn't know there was a replica of Noah's Ark in the State of Kentucky until now. I read there is also a replica of the Ark in the Netherlands. That one has had a couple of collisions, that resulted in damages. One severe. I did some research on the Kentucky location, and came up with this interesting link. Next time I go to Tennessee, I'll attempt to visit this Ark. Enjoy your visit there. I hope you get some great photos. www.arkencounter.com/about/

It sounds interesting. I doubt, however, that I will ever be able to visit. Please post your photos so we can see what it looks like.

Here's one for you, Bigmike. It was taken prior to the grand opening from an overlook they had set up for media, etc. We just followed the construction road in and had a fine time until security politely asked us to leave.

Don't know if one can even get to this vantage point any more since access is very tightly controlled now with security screeners, metal detectors, etc. There is quite a political backstory to this attraction and the companion Creation Museum.

Most of those who go to see it believe in it as an absolute fact. Suggesting otherwise to them will fall on deaf ears. While there may not be any modern empirical proof of the existence of the Ark, there can also never be any empirical proof of its non existence. As a result, those people of faith who believe the Old Testament and New Testament references to Noah will continue to believe.

Religion is a big business here in the U.S. The ark is just another way for religion to pick it's followers pockets. Franklin Graham's ministries generate more than $100 million in revenues annually (and they pay no taxes). And there are televangelists who fleece their flocks of millions every year as well. So, it's not about the faith - it's about the cash.

I went a couple of years ago and liked it.

The lighting inside is dim...very dim for picture taking any way. Be prepared to have high ISO. ( I used film)

I would say yes to the second one but the real answer is: it depends on what you want to do...get close with nothing else in the shot? Yes...very wide angle. Back a little farther and have flowers and landscape in the shot too? Then wide angle not necessary.

here is a link to my Flickr album of photos of it.

Well, since they charge 50 bucks to see the inside let me say that there ain’t no way I would pay that kind of money. Now, if they should find the actual ark on mount Arrat I would pay to see that.

No it isn't.

Oh brother...you don't know the first thing about this yet you feel like you can proclaim their intentions.

I guess if you are godless then lying about someone isn't that big of a deal.

Good!

I'd be right there denouncing fake televangelists!

But the real question is; if there is no God and thus no ultimate moral authority to hold as a standard and if we are just evolved pond scum...then why would you care? Why should one piece of cosmic broccoli care what another piece of cosmic broccoli does?

The answer: You wouldn't except for the fact that God put His law on your heart just like everyone else and you respond as if there is a universal, binding moral code on humans even as you proclaim that there isn't one.

Not to mention the fact that here you are once again talking about God...I love it. You do that because you know deep down where you won't admit (maybe even to yourself) that God exists...thus, like a moth to a flame..here you are.

Repent and believe the gospel you ridicule before it's too late and you get what you deserve.

Ah! the fun of it! One comes here to discuss photography and finds the site is crowded with flat earth believers.

You aren't talking about Christians then...but hey..come talk about God just like the other pagans...I love it. With every comment post you betray the fact that you know God exists.

Please...repent and believe before it's too late.

I do respect rpavich as a fellow photographer, but you're right, exacta56, he does spew some gobbilygook for sure. Gobbilygook and circular reasoning is central to the defense of their beliefs. Facts are of no use in changing their perspectives.

I'm done.

Trying to prove a non-existence is the same as trying to prove a negative, which can’t be done. But they go there anyway because it confirms their bias.

Of course proving a non existence can't be done, the fact is there is no empirical proof either way. It's a valid leap of faith by believers. Do you have evidence that proves the Ark never existed? Of course you don't, but you believe it never existed. Others believe it did. Is your belief system any more valid than their's?

I'm not going to get involved in that specific discussion. My comments were concerned with whether or not the ark might have his existed in the first place. For those that believe, it is just a matter of faith.
