My photographic interest started in 1947. At the age of 12, my mother gave me a Kodak devaluing kit. Contact printer, tank, trays, D-76, Fixer, and Dektol, the beginning of a whole lot of fun in my life.
I entered my first competition in 1951. My cameras consisted of a 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 Speed Graphic and a Kodak Bantam 828. I had a job after school in a camera shop in Elkhart, IN.
Throughout most of my life, I have taken photos. Some good, most of them bad, but I had fun. I have belonged to 4 camera clubs, and was president of one of them.
We recently moved to a senior independent living community, in Fort Collins, CO, and had to downsize considerably. I am throwing photos and slides away by the thousands. Digitizing some and storing others, probably will never look at them again. Just looked at the computer I am using to type this and have over 40.000 on it.
I am experimenting with water splash photography now and will post some of my trials on this site. I mentor a Colorado State University student for two hours a week, fortunately she likes photography. I am having a great experience.
At 84, I am hoping to be active taking photos for a few more years.
Welcome! Water splash is a great way to use your old skills to make something new. Looking forward to your photos.
You have had a wonderful tour through the development of photography. And it is inspiring that you are still working on new adventures like splash photography.
Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the HOG!
and I'm wishing you a lot more years of shooting.
Wow...thanks. I wasn't born until '47 and started in '59 with a little plastic camera I got for 50cents at some rummage sale I believe. We had those old flash bulb thingies too what a trip they were. Then I think it was a speed -graphic that caught my attention next and then finally a SLR in '68 and so forth.
It's nice to think back an reflect now & then and good luck old man.....you're a winner in your own right sir.
