Ted's gaze, plus some NM scenery if you're not into dogs.

Thanks, friend. I have missed him terribly on hikes.
I too like the corral and may play with it in Lightroom, doing a B/W conversion; the colors are so drab. So much for NM sun though I'm not complaining as it can be so intense before the trees have their leaves to offer shade. Like today.
For your viewing pleasure, here is a shot of Leaf minus her head (I was being pragmatic, avoiding a distracting background, and anyway her face was frowny). Also here is a shot of my overlooked other child, Oliver, who at age seven became instant uncle to a fuzzy brat (that would be Leaf). He looks like the one in your photo so I thought you'd like to meet him. He too just showed up at my house when he was tiny; when I first saw him skitter across my porch I thought he was a baby skunk.
Thanks, friend. I have missed him terribly on hik... (

Oliver just has more to love.

He is certainly a handsome fellow. I thought of you and Ted when I saw this.
Oh, that's wonderful! Thank you.

Ha! He actually bulked up when Leaf came on the scene. Although he was instantly patient with and tolerant of her, he did get into some competitive eating. But he also gets WAY more exercise now (running from her!) so he's trimming down a bit.
Glad Ted is doing well! (and you)
Thank you soooooo much for sharing, it means the world to me.😊
Good set and nice dog portrait and yes I love dogs & cats too
"By the way, if you're not into dogs, you're missing something. Ted has been my sidekick, and I his, for over 12 years; that's more than a lot of relationships between people nowadays, and likely more rewarding than some. His sole interest in life is making sure I'm okay. All right, he also likes treats. If you look closely, you'll see my silhouette reflected in his eyes."
Your post brings lots of memories and tears. You are to be commended for your loyal devotion and caring for your loyal hiking companion, sidekick, and best friend.
I recently adopted Coco, a five-year-old, Flat-coat retriever from a shelter here in Montana. I have had dogs all of my life beginning with, Bing when I was one-year-old. I have lost so many of these loyal buddies over the years ... the last was Murphy a year and a half ago. Murphy was special! Well, they're all special, but there's some that are extra special - Murphy was one such extra special buddy. It nearly killed me (literally) when Murphy was poisoned by a heartless person - He is buried here on the property he loved and knew as home. If I can ever figure out who did what they did to Murphy ... they're d..d!!!
Coco will never take the place of Murphy ... yet she has filled my life with such joy and happiness. She may outlive me ... never know. But if the time comes for her medical needs I'll mortgage the house if necessary - she is family ... our family comprises only two people, loyal friend Coco and me.
People who don't have compassion for dogs as 'little people' who deserve our love and care, don't get the opportunity to pass through my doors.
Enjoy your best buddy, Ted. He is a wonderful friend.

You're quite welcome. Ted's recovery is pretty important to me too.

I hear you! When we let animals into our lives the rewards are endless. And yes, losing them is horrible; I know many people who, having lost a dog, say Never Again. Their choice, but I believe they're cheating both themselves and that dog who needs a home.
When Ted is gone he will take a piece of me with him. Until then I will do my utmost to keep him happy, since that is what he does for me. Thank you for your response.

Thanks. As much as I enjoy sharing my "serious" photography on this site, I really get a kick out of sharing my pet photos, and seeing other people's.
Thank you for your vote of confidence. Now that he's rediscovered his leg, I don't think he'll turn back.
I love the useless corral!
