I understand the RX10 IV to be a fine camera. But it costs $1,598.00.

I would think that at $497.99 the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 might suffice, although it only zooms at 16X from 25 to 400mm (35mm equiv) vs the Sony 24 to 600mm (35mm equiv). For more zoom the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 at $997.99 zooms 20X from 24 to 480mm (35mm equiv).

Of course, I'm just going by price and published specs. Both brands use a 1" sensor, and have a similar form factor. However, the FZ-2500 is 2.13 lbs, the FZ-1000 is only 1.72 lb, and the RX10 IV is the heaviest at 2.41 lbs.

We like our ZS 100's, don't we PH? 2nd week of shooting with it and I like it more and more each time I use it

Of the 3 (RX10, RX100, ZS100) it is the most portable.

If you're referring to the ZS100, that's not the case. The RX100 is smaller in every dimension...

I was mistaken. However, the ZS100 has greater zoom range at less than 1/2 the price. I'd still pick it over the RX100VI, actually, I did.

Hi, I am new to this web site, have been using a Nikon D750 for some time now, looking to simplify my life! I was recently introduced to the Sony RX10 IV would like to get the opinion of the forum on this camera. Thanks, in advance, for any help.

I have both cameras. When day hiking on a long trip or at an air show for example, I take the RX10IV. Otherwise I have the D750 with the 24-120 kit lens on it.

Just curious, of the two you mentioned that you have, which would you take to Europe if you could only take one?

That's a tough question. But I am getting to like the RX10 M4 for travel. But the RX100 iv fits in a shirt pocket whereas the RX10 M4 has to be on a shoulder or neck strap.

Thanks for your quick response! I have the RX100 II and it’s fabulous, but going to trade it for one of the cameras above for an upcoming trip and trying to decide between the two above. My normal camera is the Canon 5D IV and don’t want to take it and a bunch of lenses, but want quality pictures. I’ve been trying to read all the threads on both. Thanks again for answering.
