Glad you enjoyed it. Manhattan Project was an incredible project. We live near Oak Ridge and know many people who work there. We went through Los Alamos also this summer. It was an incredible time in our history.
It was an absolutely mind-boggling intellectual and engineering achievement, considering what was created essentialy from nothing, across the country, in a remarkably short period of time. (I read somewhere that the development of the B-29 cost just as much, and was just as important, as no existing US bomber could carry the devices that Oak Ridge, Hanford and Los Alamos were going to produce.)
It is, sadly, hard for me to imagine that we could today find, organize and manage the talent necessary to carry out a similarly challenging enterprise.

Thank you for the sad news and for posting the link.
Very well put. Things like the Hoover Dam, I wonder how long it would take to get that done in today’s environment.
It would be nice for our country to unite once again .... that is without the war. We probably have the talent and intellect, just not the unified drive. So many take our freedom for granted and forgot or never knew the sacrifices made to get us where we are today.
Thanks for reading the article.
