A good day trip would be Lunenburg, NS. Great restaurants and the famous Bluenose II schooner is moored there. I had the honour and pleasure, living there for five months (2016).

Go back, Jerry. I'll be there in June.

Forget PEI. Instead go to the other side of the bay to St John, NB. You'll see the reversing tides swell to over the size of a three-story building, a road the defies gravity, more of the Cabot Trail with the Red Coats in uniform at the Fort whose name i forget. A fantastic trip.

I plan on visiting the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, and if we have time PEI. I only have a week. We were thinking of staying at different hotels each night so we can see as much of the island as possible.

Any recommendations on places to stay? Also looking for the most scenic areas for photos.

We will be visiting the first weekend in August.

Thank you.

Not sure where you are located but a week is not a lot of time. As for places to stay you should be booked already or your choices will be limited. Nice country but I just stay on the TCH on my way to NL.

Jack, he isn't planning to go to Newfoundland (NL).

With only one week it's an either/or situation. NS has so much to see. We weren't able to cover it in a week. Likewise PEI. Would suggest you study both, choose which one, then research places to stay near what you want to see. Can't beat the resources on the internet for your study and research.

If I was him, I would go to Newfoundland. I've been there for the last three years. No place like it, on this earth. I am going there every year, from this day on.

I only spent one night in Newfoundland in 2005, but I spent a year in Labrador 1964-1965. The folks are nice, but the accommodations weren't the greatest (a USAF Air Force station on the coast).

David, things are much better now in Labrador. Check it out.

I was back in 2005 for a week-long celebration by the whole village of Cartwright. The fairly nice hotel I stayed in there has burned down, I understand. I also stayed a night at the Alexis Hotel in Port Hope Simpson--it was pretty nice. And Labrador City was also OK. Wasn't a lot else there, though. Refueled my 1966 Mustang at Churchill Falls, but did not see any of it (my highway partner was in a hurry to get home).

My quarters in the BOQ at Cartwright Air Station in 1964 was a room about 8'x8' with a bed, a chifferobe, and a chest of drawers--the latrine was down the hall. There was an adjoining 8'x8' room (with another bedroom on the other side) that had a chair and a desk in it. However, it was warm and had good access to the O Club and the radar office where I worked. Chow Hall food was usually OK.

As others have mentioned, it is impossible to do justice to both PEI and Nova Scotia in one week.
As a photographer, you could spend a week in PEI and then three (or more) weeks in Nova Scotia.
I suggest "doing" one area well instead of trying to cover a lot of ground and just skimming the surface.
