“Depths in Flight“ and a 3D version

Depths in Flight

I have long long marveled at the myriad depths /distances that can be perceived among numbers of birds in flight, and long disappointed at my attempts to realistically capture those perceptions photographically. I have recently ( that’s a relative term...being 79 years of age and a avid photographer since 1950) been experimenting with 2D-to-3D conversion and am getting close to my aim as regards numbers of birds distributed through the sky.

Here’s a shot of sandhill cranes above the Platte River at sunset coming in to roost.

Also, here is a “3D quad” to be viewed for 3D effect:
The top pair is for parallel gaze.
The bottom pair is for crossed gaze.

Note: I perceive the 3D effect best with parallel gaze; some others strongly prefer crossed gaze for the best 3D effect. “Your mileage may vary”.

Enjoy.

Depths in Flight br br I have long long marveled ... (show quote)

Although the original image is fairly tame, at least the 3D effect has some merit. That's because the shifting of the elements are all left<>right with little vertical distortion.
