Star trails test shot with new setup

I did some test shots with my new setup. I can hardly wait to get to a very dark spot for some prettier back drop. In the past, I used a Nikon D7000 with a f/2.8 lens at iso 400/800. This shot was with a D750 and a 24mm f/1.8 at iso 100! 140 30 second exposures merged with GIMP.

Have you tried this software, it’s free and I believe this is the one that will give you the option to smooth out the trails.

I see you're located in Virginia. The James River State Park was just recently designated as an International Dark Sky Park. Virginia also has another state park with that same designation, I think it's the Staunton River State Park. If you're reasonably close to either of those, that might give you some dark sky options. Nice shot by the way!

That program looks pretty similar to StarStax. Free: https://www.markus-enzweiler.de/software/software.html
