I was intro'd to Windows with version 3.0. There is still a version of Windows 3.1 that runs on current computers. I started teaching Windows at the local Community College with Windows 3.1 and Microsoft Works. That was in 1992/93. Just retired a year ago when teaching Windows 10.

Still running xp pro with no problems.
Please note that should you connect either of those machines to the Internet, they will be hacked within minutes. Microsoft hasn't issued security updates for those in years, and there are an army of computer seeking out unprotected computers on the net.
I still have a dream of resurrecting my Win 98 SE notebook.
I have precious software (mine and third-parties) that I love.
Including a lot of DOS software that will never run under my
Win 7, 64-bit.
Win 98 SE has USB support an that is the only one quality
that makes it better than Win 95.
Win 97... Never heard.

Still have a pretty good all-Intel motherboard with
a Pentium (first gen) and all great PCI and ISA
cards, like a Sound Blaster 32 that I used to digitalize
my old LP's.

I guess you don't remember Windows 1.0 and 3.0 with the floppy discs either. lol
I still have all disks for Win 3.11 for Workgroups. I used to be more
computer active by then...
I confess. I still have Windows 97 on a computer that refuses to die.
95, 98, 2000, Vista, XP etc.
Commodore 64 with DOS and tape drive, Commodore 128 with DOS and two floppy drives, Dell PC with Win 3.0, Sony Vaio with Win 95 that I think was upgraded to 98. All later computers have been laptops. Have had XT & Vista. Now Samsung Win 10 (upgraded from 8) 8 GB RAM, 1TB HD, I7, 17" monitor.
I remember Win95 & 98 but no such thing as Win97. Is there such a thing?

I could never get any stability with Vista. Crashed constantly, even on a modern (then) notebook and desktop. Moved to Macs after that.
Once upon a time I had a Timex computer - ran BASIC programs from a cassette tape drive, had a memory expansion module bigger than a pack of cigarettes to take it from 2 Kb to 16.....
No, I am not making this spit up! I was programming mainframe COBOL in 1974.
Then I went to law school. First wife thought there was no future in IT.....

I used to do in-house IT for a lawyer I worked with. He had Win 95, bought a USB scanner when the court system started requiring electronic filings. He asked me to set it up. I told him the USB support for Win 95 was "theoretical at best," and I had heard nothing but bad experiences. "Try it anyway." So, after the inevitable "blue screen of death", I was able to bill several more hours getting his data back!
