I always stop at about the same location on Hwy 136 on the way from Death Valley right outside of Lone Pine, where this view of Lone Pine Peak (on the left 12,949 ft) and Mt Whitney (on the right 14,505) with a hint of the Alabama Hills (foreground) comes into view.

Nikon D850 and Tamron 70-200 G2. Distractions removed in Photoshop B&W conversion in Lightroom with Tony Northrop's Almost Ansel preset. Sky lightened to balance foreground tones.

Love it! Your photo brings back memories of when I climbed Mt. Whitney a LONG time ago--in 1983.

The large sloping topped peak to the far left of Mt Whitney is Mt Langley.
It is 14,026 feet high and a moderately strenuous trail to the top. You can begin the hike from Cottonwood Lakes trailhead by way of a good paved but winding road from Lone Pine. You cross Old Army Pass from the lakes, which are by the way home to the Golden Trout. Permits are required.
Great view of Whitney to the north of Langely.
