My husband bought me a Sigma APO Tele Converter 2x for Valentines day. It will not work with my current lenses and I am not ready to buy new lenses. It says on the box for Canon AF. He paid $160 for it. Asking that or best offer. THANKS :)

This must have been an older model he bought used? The new price is $299 everywhere. Sounds like it is not the "DG EX" model that is the current model. That may be the issue you are experiencing in getting it to work properly.

I think that's right. I paid nearly $300 for mine a month ago. I read somewhere that the current model was designed especially for their 70-200 f2.8 lens. Not much point keeping it, unless you buy a lens one day that is compatible with it.

I was told today that the lens I have would not work with a teleconverter. I am not sure what model The Tele Converter is. But thanks for your help. If I can't sell it, I will have to wait until I can afford the lens it is compatible with.

My husband bought the lens off EBay. It is brand new and says on the box it is for a Canon AF. I have a Canon Rebel xsi, with and Ef S lens.

Your EFS lenses likely will not work with any TC that has a glass element in it as the EFS lenses typically have the rear element at or protruding from the rear lens mount and that will cause an interference fit with the glass element in the TC, and could actually cause damage to both the TC as well as the EFS lens.

MT is right. I suggest you go to Canons web site for a list of lenses that are compatible with their teleconverters. Buying a lens that has the focal length you need is better than using a teleconverter anyway.

Thank you all for the information :). I will be saving up for the appropriate lens. And my husband is not allowed to surprise me with camera purchases until he learns more...

Good idea. Next time just before you think he might be buying you a gift, write down on a piece of paper the exact item you want and were to get it. Then you'll get what you want and he will be a super hero. :-D
