Hi,

I have decided to buy a compact camera with a budget of around 500$. do you think the lumix LX5 is a good camera?
I ve been a nikon fan for many many years. what about the nikon p 7000?
And I've tried the compact cameras of the other friendds . because of using big cameras ,using the compacts is a little difficult for and the photos I took ( especially with the tele) were not very good. is there a way to keep the small cameras tighter or more stable in your hand and take sharp photos?

with many thanks...

Kamran

The LX5 has recieved favorable reviews.

The most common pitfall that I see people with compacts doing is holding the camera arms extended straight out in front while taking photos. You are likely to get camera shake.

This problem is worse when using the telephoto end of the zoom range. It magnifies any movement.

Regardless of what camera you use; to avoid camera shake: make an effort to avoid using the telephoto end of the zoom (unless you have a tripod), hold the camera close to your body, and use a sturdy structure to lean against.

Hi, br br I have decided to buy a compact camera ... (show quote)

I’m quitting my compact 1” format, RF-style, 10x zoom camera for pretty much the same experience you had with your borrowed camera. Mine has OIS so thaz not spozed to a problem.

I’m no promoter of giant dinosaur SLRs. I’m very happy with m4/3 and APSC live view cameras. But the truly pocketable 1” 10x compact just didn’t cut it for me, especially when zoomed out more than about 2/3 toward the limit.

Let’s not blame the built-in lens. After all, it says “Leica” on it ... LOL :-(
