A Verger is kind of like the MCEE of the church. He makes sure the wine and communion is set up before Mass and assists the Priest with the service, does the Gospel readings, and administers communion during service and also goes to shut ins and nursing homes to give communion. (Episcopal Church)

Now my question is, what is an "MCEE?" Perhaps similar to a deacon or elder?
