I ordered the cotton carrier, but find that I cannot seem to make it work with the colar on the lense. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm open to any method of carrying the camera, with the lense and the color.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Charlotte,
Carryspeed do some excellent straps and you can leave the strap on while on a tripod.

They are similar to Blackrapid but better

can you explain why you mean by "lense and the color " . I use the cotton carrier and love it. My wife got it for me and she also got the holster for carrying a camera on the waist . I've used it on a small lens up to my 300 mm lens with no problems

Sorry, a mistype. I meant the lens and the collar. It won't fit on the cxarrier with the collar on the lens. I need the collar both for hand holding and also connection to the tripod, so taking it off is not an option. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Larger lenses have a tripod ring on the lenses to help balance the camera when used on a tripod. I am guessing this is what she is referring to.

It doesn't bother me when I am carrying it off the tripod and hand held shooting, in fact I use it to steady the lens when shooting hand held. Some do find it in the way though but most are easy to remove if that is the case.

Charlotte, is this what you are referring to? If so have you thought about taking it off?

ahh, ok, I think I got it . go back to cotton carrier, run thru there videos or email there customer service asking about your situation. Seems as if they'd have a solution . Sorry thats the best I can do .
I just watched there video, they have the adapter ring on the base of there cameras . that leaves the collar free for your holding and tri-pod use .

I use the Cotton Carrier and like it. My "collar" (Tripod mount) will loosen and turn so I can carry it on the lens, but with the tripod mount facing away from me, or remove it if I don't need it.

I have thought about taking th collar off, but I use it in both hand held and on the tripod so it's not really a good option for me.

Hi Charlotte,
Sorry, can't answer about which one is better with long lens, as I don't have the Blackrapid. (nearly purchased a BR but then I found the CS and it is really good, especially if you want to use a tripod without disconnecting the strap). I can carry my camera around with the tripod quick release fitted to the bottom of the camera. If you look on the website for Carryspeed there are links to videos and information etc.

Regards

Lightware makes a 300/2.8 case which takes "saddle bags" which can hold your camera body, another lens, batteries and what not. The entire thing is about as protective and compact as can be.

Sorry, guess I asked the wrong question. Which CS do you recommend for a long heavy lens?
