Welcome. I will start with the butterfly. My eyes have a hard staying on the butterfly--the leaves, shadows, and how th light hits the upper right of the picture all seem to distract my eyes from the main object. Maybe some cropping so the butterfly filling the frame. The butterfly itself is captured well, the colors are clear and the markings are clear. I hope this may help. I will let others comment on the other 2 pictures.

Hi Bones.

Nice lake and balloon photos!

Butterflies are very difficult to photograph. I have an awful time trying to shoot them and my butterfly photos are not very good. Your butterfly looks great, but I think that the photo needs some bokeh. A blurry background would make the butterfly pop right out at you and that's what you want. Use the widest aperture you have for these shots. :D

The first one is OK, but a little boring to me. Playing with the light may help. Is that the moon on the horizon?

I would crop the balloon shot into a 5 x 7 portrait and eliminate as much peripheral clutter as possible. The light is good around the main subject. I’d try to feature that.

It is great to be able to capture butterflies, but I toss way more shots than I keep. However, I’d keep that one until I got its replacement. I don't know if the subject is really sharp enough to get a lot of help from blurring the background. P.S. But its worth a try.

Btw, welcome to the Ug.....
