i don't do portraits, but I like this one. The lighting is perfect, the look in his eyes and the uncombed bit of hair gives him a really scampish quality which really comes out in the photo. Love black and white for people shots. i think it is very well done and Kudos to you.

Love it! B/W conversation is wonderful (do you do it yourself or is it an action? I'm trying to do my B/W myself).

Catchlights are in the perfect position (which I am sure you already know, judging by the quality of this). Lighting is just wonderful (any tips on that?)

My only nick-pic would be I wish he wasn't smushing his hand into his face and eating his finger but he's 2 so I'm really just impressed you got him to sit still for longer than a milli-second. :)

Wonderful!

You don't need a critique... You are already in the business. Jump in here and help out some folks who really need some inspiration and technical help.

P.S. When you are ready for some really smok'in critiques post some of your senior photos especially the girls. Don't post the favorites or the best of the bunch. Post the ones you had the hardest time posing or had a hard time managing. We can help.

Yeeks! Why "especially the girls?"
Not sure how to respond on the technical queries. I have a large white backdrop, kept the 2 year old about 6 feet away from it, a large picture window in my studio on a sunny afternoon, used a Canon 7D and a 580EXII flash. The camera was set to CA and automatic. No other lighting, just got lucky. My editing program is ACDSee Pro3. Original pic was color, I made it B&W on my program.

I'm very impressed especially now that we know he is two. The lighting is just great and his eyes are full of life.

I didn't dig too deeply into your smugmug gallery but it seemed to me that the senior girls would have been a little more difficult and challenging than the boys. That may simply have been my perception but do post a few of those and let see how it works out.

I love it! The eyes say it all. You seemed to have captured the personality of this little guy! What lens did you use?
