I guess I am reminded of an old saying, "If you can't say something nice then don't say anything." If one asks for CC then do it in a kind way. It is one thing to say you really need to work on your composition and here is how it might be better, quite another to say your photo is crap and you have no idea what you are doing. Before hitting the send button reread what you have written and ask yourself if you would like to be addressed in a similar manner. I personally enjoy this site immensely and have had nothing but kind replies when I ask questions. I am sorry others haven't been as fortunate.

Actually, DF, what happened was Person #1 commented quite clearly and non-confrontationally on Person #2's photos,and was then roundly denounced by #2 for suggesting that her photos weren't museum quality. Person #2 then went off the deep end and attacked a THIRD person. Neither #1 nor #3 made rude comments, as opposed to the general bitchiness of person #2.

It seems as if a lot of folks were complaining that this is something that is pervading the whole site. I haven't seen any of it but then I don't read every post either. As far as the two people that were gone off on I can't believe either one of them capable of being insensitive and I have read a lot of their posts. I admire both of them for their photographic abilities and wish I were on a par with them. At any rate I hope it can be resolved in a timely manner as it seems to be very disruptive.

Speaking of which I just took my first shots with an IR filter. Sunlight, 3 seconds, f 5.6, ISO 1600, then hit it with sepia. It looks like about 1890ish. But focusing with the IR on is not possible. Remove the filter, focus, hold the lens and install the filter, cross your fingers and shoot.
Everything should be related to (f-stop) a camera a scene or a print.
