In NYC they don't prosecute shoplifters. The politicians tell us that crime is down. That is because nothing is a crime anymore.

It is a mystery to me too! That state has had a long history of electing and re-electing some doozies for sure....
New York and now Minnesota aren't too far behind in the scratch my head category. Lol

Got me, over two thirds of the state is democratic and they v**e their party rather than specific issues. Many stupidly complain about costs and governance yet are too stupid to realize their v**e could be the impetus of a turnaround. The messaging and is clearly controlled by the “costal elites” and tech giants.

Playing the IDENTITY game is the downside of EVERYTHING... ! Just look around the HOG and you can see it in play every day... Where has common sense gone ? I myself have numerous diff. camera brands because each offered something interesting to me. I am also an " Independent " v**er who tries to see common sense in ALL issues. I just don't get this blind allegiance to ANYTHING ! Do folks think SO little of their own intelligence ? I just don't get it !

I believe there is much intellectual laziness in the e*****rate. Being a lemming is much less work.

Unlike Europe which has a vigorous free media system (TV/print/radio)ranging from the far left to the far right as well as well as the middle, informing the public and resulting in an informed e*****rate, USA media is left, with bias in reporting the news as well as not reporting or emphasizing what is happening politically or economically. The result is that the American public is badly misinformed and ignorant of what is happening around them. The media is still so jubilant of getting us out of the Viet Nam war (where we never should have been)that it is still shaping the body politic. Hence, despite inflation, rampant crime, high mortgage rates, catastrophic walkout in AFghanistan, corrupt government, no border controls (unlike any other country)Biden is good, all other political avenues are bad. How does the pubic learn what is going on or who to v**e for?

In case you haven't heard, there has been a change in shoplifting. A gang rushes into a store, grabs expensive items, and runs out. Basically, there's no defense against this. Armed guards? Do you want a gunfight in a crowded store? These guys disappear and then sell the items at a discount. Stores are closing as a result. First offenders get a light sentence. If there is no weapon used, that also means a light sentence. Of course, the police must first catch the thieves. People are horrible.

Boy, things sure have changed.
I remember working for a national department store chain, and one day we had a pair of shoplifters, apparently working together. A chase ensued, and a co worker named Ed tackled one, and restrained him on the curb. Ed was a little fellow, a Vietnam vet. The guy was taller than him. Two of us cornered the other one when he tried to hide in a dumpster behind a movie theater in the next block. Were those the days, or what?

No gun in a crowded store make sens, but Louisville slugger in a good set of arm can reeducate some people, aim for arm, legs, knees, hands.
My favorite is a pick handle, the shape concentred the striking power

Easy fix , DOUBLE doors at entrance.... push panic button and one locks automatically. Perps are a captive audience !

A common Christmas Eve ploy dating back to the seventies.
