Heading towards the Holland tunnel

daldds Loc: NYC

My wife was driving. We were in stop and go traffic. I was bored and impatient, sitting in air-conditioned comfort, so up went my little Sony.
I was not going to work on these images, but realized that many of you will never see New York City, so I decided to show these two just to give a different view.
The image with the iconic Empire State building needed a little bit of editing because I had to shoot through the top of the passenger side window to avoid as much of the retaining wall as I could. The skyscrapers are a little more than 2 miles away. The more colorful buildings are on the Jersey City side of the Hudson river.

Wonder who pays for his cell phone in his left front pocket, just wondering ? Got stuck in the Holland tunnel for 4 hours in the summer in a VW bug, almost didn't make it out alive, hot and muggy.

Yeah, and when he gets finished begging enough money to pay the cell phone service bill, he gets into his nice shiny car and bitches about the traffic like everyone else.
I'm one of those who will never see NYC! Oh, wait. Too late, already have! But never again! But that's just me.

Your first image is a very common sight around the entire U.S. David.

The second shot is really interesting. It looks like the buildings in the foreground are reality while the NY skyline looks like an apparition. Maybe a view of the future as Manhattan was abandoned due to a couple of "dirty bombs" being discharged on the island.

I'm laughing. When I lived in Manhattan I drove the reverse commute to NJ every day. As I passed all the cars (i was doing 50+) heading into the Holland Tunnel, I saw the same guy, in the same car, at the same time, stopped in the same spot. I would have killed myself if I had to do that!
