Yes I do too as well as VA benefits.

Maybe if those people in the private market got jobs it might help.

You on the Left expect me to provide insurance benefits for those who have never worked a day in their life.

Dennis

I recall you posted about your career once. Have you ever had a real job, or have you only worked for the government?

Not to put too fine of a 'common sense point' on it but your topic title is: "Why I Do Not Want Government Health Insurance". Do you realize how many *"nice countries" have some form of public health care? ask around.

*a DJT dumbed down dog whistle.

You have to ask yourself why you continue with your medical system when pretty much the rest of the world does the opposite. Wouldn't have anything to do with the Industry lining the pockets of influential people would it.

I'm not getting into standards - you have some of the best health care available, but only for those that can afford it. Most people with 'socialised' medical care pay less than the premiums those that can afford it pay for theirs.

I'll give my 2 cents on the medical system in the US. I'm a 2 time survivor of esophageal cancer and a peer-to-peer cancer counselor. Problems include:
1. The cost to train new doctors is prohibitively expensive; a few med schools like NYU are now tuition fee; most aren't. A friend's son is pre-med at Vanderbilt - cost $82,000 annual. The debt for training is overwhelming.
2. Managed care by insurers is to save the public money; that's a lie. It is to save insurers money. Paperwork for doctors has quintupled in the last 20 years - instead of seeing patients they have to spend hours justifying their decisions to the insurers. The 1st line of the insurers are manned by people checking guidelines that have virtually no medical training.
3. Doctors, nurses became burned out by C***d, many left for easier positions.
4. Doctors are often restricted by regulation put together by legislators that are ill-informed or not knowledgeable about medicine - take a woman that has a non-viable fetus that may k**l her or render her infertile - doctors are threatened by the danger of fines or prison. Gynocologists are leaving the Southern states in droves. BTW, Roughly 10 to 20% of all pregnancies are terminated by miscarriage.
5. Hospitals are overwhelmed by unavailability of traditional doctors say for conditions that could be treated outside the ER like the common cold - no docs they go to the ER.

Kicking the can on the insurance when I was first diagnosed, my drs. wanted a PET scan - its a metastatic cancer. It was diagnosed by full professor at Penn. The clerk declined, I appealed, it went to their medical person declined, I appealed their dr declined. The surgeon said he needed it to find out what he was dealing with - I knew the law and pushed - the declining dr was a pediatrician in Nashville overriding an international expert on my disease. Threatening got me the right scan - what about the poor guy that doesn't have my knowledge or sk**ls?

I was retired when it came back I was on Medicare - much easier to deal with - got my scans and treatment. I would be dead now if I had to have dealt with that original insurer and had to jump through the hoops i did the first time.

You are absolutely correct. Congratulations on having the sk**ls and tenacity.

Perhaps you don't realize, by law hospitals must take in sick people.

My objection is as the link states, people in dire need of care in your country, told to me by a friend who lived just 30 miles outside of London waited months for surgery. That is not my idea of ideal health care. Is it yours?

I also object to insurance companies pretty much dictating how much health care will cost and then simply bill the government what they think is appropriate.

I appreciate your comment,

Dennis

You apparently don’t know, understand or care about a popular definition of the word troll. If you did, you would not be parading your ignorance as you yourself troll.

You should realize by now, from your vast experience, that there is a small group who applaud your foolishness and a much larger group who clearly believes that you are nothing more than a nut-job extremist who worships trump while profiling all who disagree as a corrupt leftie, lol, and more! None are trying to infringe on your right to be a clown in public or change your mind. Yes, we all believe in your right to be the biggest and most extreme troll on the forum as you exercise your right to free speech.

A long time ago I even supplied you with links to enable you to learn from respected dictionaries, etc, but you found it necessary to use your own definition. Yes, you are truly an extreme whacko!

I know perfectly well what a Troll is and you sure fit the bill as do your sisters, little krackhead and lil tex. Not a one of you offer any discussion points, you simply take what others who are smarter than you, point out and then give the opposite opinion.

And you should be smart enough to KNOW I really don't give a S**T about what the larger group thinks. If those people support the Left or are as ignorant as many of you are then I don't care what they think except to keep doing what I think is right. You call me names because I like and respect Trump over an addled i***tic lying corrupt piece of dog s**t, BIDEN. You don't like Trump. Good for you. Then don't v**e for him. But nothing you or anyone else has said about Trump will cause me to not v**e for him. At least 75% of what the Left says about Trump is BULLS**T.

You may not agree with me and my thoughts but then again that is your right. Your thoughts concerning me and other Conservatives belong rightfully in Uranus.

Buh Bye now little davey,

Dennis

You get funnier with each post as you fail to understand the post you’re making your foolish partisan reply to. You again show yourself to be nothing more than a little boohoo troll whose strong suits are extremism, name-calling and your newer trait, potty mouth.

You are most definitely not to be confused with true Conservatives for it is extreme f**ers like you who give them a bad name. You are nothing more than a trolling nut-job. Nobody would waste their time attempting to change your opinions, most have no respect for them or you for that matter. Nobody disputes that you have the right to be a troll and you are certainly never the smartest one in any room.

Pleasant dreams of the coming autocracy.

I do know that hospitals have to take people in, but if I believe they don't have to offer follow up treatment once the initial complaint is stabilised. A holiday some time back with relatives (living and working in the U.S.at the time) resulted in a nearly $2k bill for treatment to a wasp sting (steroid, near the airway).

You are correct in stating our waiting times are longer, this in my opinion is due to the Conservative Government messing about with what was once a simple basic but adequate service. You're not wrong on the waiting time either, but as it costs NOTHING to see a GP people tend to go earlier so treatment begins earlier.

Finally, although we make a payment to the Government called National Insurance, no insurance company or billing is involved at patient level. I believe our NHS was a leader in this field and many that have followed have improved and surpassed it. I'm very glad I have what I have, as no doubt are you.

We'll never close that gap, unfortunately for a lot of U.S. citizens.

You don't have to worry about being denied care because of the cost nor having to file for bankruptcy due to getting a serious medical condition. Knowing that there is not that worry is the best "insurance" you can have.
