Has Zeiss discontinued its line of photo lenses ? Concentrating on lenses for cinematography ? Would NOW be a time to get one as the laws of supply/demand take effect ? I know I hesitated on an Olympus Pen F and now really regret it.. BTW, maybe a 5D Mark4 while we are talking about supply/demand ? Yes, I know, there are collectors and users.... Just asking for a friend.

Interesting links... Thank you !
If true, a sad day. I carry nearly a full line of zeiss primes and they produce stellar results from the d850.

The only one I have is on Sony's very first bridge camera and still to this day it has the best micro contrast of any lens I own... When I purchased the camera back when, reviews said lens was worth the cost of the entire camera all by itself...
Not long ago Cosina said they would cut back some Voigtlander production to use the capacity for Zeiss. Wonder if well get sonething interesting out of all this.
Im not in mourning. Never been sold on Zeiss. Had several for roll film cameras but that was not a choice. They were the OEM default. Theyre just lenses. OTOH I admit to being quite fond of the Tessars. Those are fine examples of less is more.
They only have so much in resources...
Video is the market...hands down...still photography is on the back burner big time.
It's the smart move...
I own a Zeiss Batis 85mm lens with a Sony E mount. It's a great lens, but I soured on Zeiss as a company about four years ago. I had a pair of Zeiss binoculars that were out of alignment and sent them to their repair facility in Kentucky. After several weeks of hearing nothing from them, I contacted them only to have them claim that they never received the binoculars. They persisted in this even though I had proof of delivery and a letter from the postmaster in KY verifying that the binoculars were delivered. They simply would not admit that they had received and subsequently lost the binoculars - in the face of all evidence. I consider my binoculars to have been stolen by Zeiss.

I was just wondering how the price of existing inventory will change.

Prices may increase although, I hope not by much. They're already pretty pricey.

I wish I was up where you are... One of the highlights of my life was staying at the Many Glacier lodge and that GREAT steakhouse just down the road from the one entrance to the north I believe.
