In a recent check on my Barn Owl nesting box, I documented these 4 owlets and an egg. It is interesting to note from the photo that owls have “asynchronous” hatching. The adults begin incubating the eggs in the order they were laid. Thus, the young may vary greatly in their size and ages.
They look only hours old.
Great set, can't wait to see them grow up
Good work! Please keep us posted.

That is really interesting! I hope you keep us posted. I have an eagle cam in my area I enjoy watching so I bet I would enjoy seeing these guys grow up!
Very cool! Will you be able to continue monitoring them?
Retired CPO, Have enjoyed the kind reviews from this post. I restrict checking on the owlets because I do not want to create any undo stress on the predators. Other factors include the age calendar catching up to me so I can't facilitate the necessary travel time and physical requirements. I have included a climbing harness, always wear goggles, a breathing mask, my climbing helmet, and use protective slings. In my younger years, I would also band the owlets but now I just do visual and photo documentations.
UTMike, Thanks for your interest. You might note the message I posted to Retired CPO. Best to you and yours.
JustJill, Thanks for your interest in the owlets.
