Now as Pentax continues to talk about manufacturing new film cameras, I find it interesting that KEH has published material about using a film camera. Of course, they make money selling all old cameras, including film cameras, I find it interesting that they picked this time for published it.

I noticed the KEH email too (as I have purchased items from them in the past). I did not read it though as I know all I need to for now about using film if I ever shoot film again (Yes, I own several film cameras).

I may be the only one who would like a new model Pentax MILC (mirroless) with the features of a K-1 or K-3iii DSLR.

My local brick & mortar says that film sales have increased significantly in the last year. Apparently, more people are shooting film - or shooting it more often.

I find little need for film camera but I find I need more affordable film and processing. I have plenty of film cameras I can use but I am trying to find film that I can use that doesn't cost too much.

No you’re not! I’d be the second buyer, just after you!

Pentax seems to have given up on MILC, to have decided that “MILC is not for us”. The other manufacturers have generally made a new line of shorter-flange-distance lenses for their MILC; Pentax made the “K-01” which used their standard K-mount, but nothing followed. I doubt if they have the resources to make a new line of lenses, but they have a wealth of older lenses. Their film project seems to be an effort to take advantage of those.

Indeed.
If film and processing were at the price levels of ten years ago usage would greatly expand from its current tiny niche. Today's prices are prohibitive even for those who still have large collections of film cameras and a desire to use them from time to time. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to change.

I do use them, and do pay those prices.

My first "real" camera was a Nikon Ftn. Great camera. Made of metal. Nearly indestructible. I learned about photography on that camera. I still have it, but I have moved on to digital. Will I part with the film camera? Nope. It's going to live on as the thing that got me into this hobby.

A roll of Ektachrome E100 is $23 from B&H and then around $15 for processing. I don't think I can afford to shoot much.

My local camera store charges half that, perhaps less.

You can get a roll of Ektachorme E100 for $12 or less? Let me know. My local store which is a large and well stocked store but the last time I asked to buy some film they laughed at me.

I usually purchase negative film, which I scan. Since they send Ektachrome out, neither selling nor developing Ektachrome, I’m no longer interested in “chrome”. I used mostly Kodachrome at one time, but then Kodak ‘abandoned’ it and the world went digital.

When Kodak discontinued Kodachrome I tried Ektachrome 100 and it was excellent even better than Kodachrome in my opinion. Not the kind of Ektachrome I had back in the late 70's. Since I don't have the darkroom anymore and can't make my prints so I shoot slides film again. I don't want others to print my negatives.

These days, I have gone digital; I have purchased a scanner, so no one prints my negatives. Since my camera store sells negative film, that is the film I use. If I recall correctly, slide film has always cost more than negative film did.
