My cut-off point is 10%.

Of course it's up to the OP. Even between a $5500 Z9 and $4000 Z8 I would still pick the Z9. If my bank account isn't big enough I would buy nothing. Smaller and ligher means nothing to me unless I can put it in my pocket. But really if I were to buy one of the Z camera it would be the original Z7 (not Z7ii).

"We're gonna need bigger pockets." Remember that movie?

Actually the question is how big is your bank account.

Think the question is not your bank account but the rest of your families needs for those funds

Gerry, YOU have ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS to make this statement, being unfamiliar with both. It's just fine to have an opinion, but nicer when based on facts and personal experience. Have a nice day.

Can there ever be a post on here w/o some sort of sparky back and forth. It really is taking over a lot of threads. It's OK to have a difference of opinion but do it on a civilized manner

So how long has the Z9 been out?! I have to wonder if a brand new camera offering should need a refurb already??!!

Referb can refer to a camera that was returned and can't be sold as new. Best buy sell stuff called open box slightly discounted. Could also be a item returned under warranty that was fixed with little or no use

I have purchased refurbished lenses from Nikon. Both have come without a box or instructions, and rather shabbily packaged. I'm curious if they do the same with a camera?

You buy from many places they have a return policy that allows you to return what you don't like for full refund. Many people would buy the camera sight unseen (or buy more than one) and keep the one they like. These returns can not be sold as new so they are refurbished.

I think that depends on who's selling. All of my refurbs have been packaged like new, with all the related parts. Nikon changed the color of its boxes for refurbs, from black to gray.

Geeze Jerry, all my Nikon referbs came in white boxes! Another "Jerry" fact?

I see that I typed "brown," instead of "gray." Sorry

Do I have to go out in the garage and take pictures of my gray boxes? I don't think so. Maybe it was dark when I received them, and white looked gray.

My point was that my refurbs came neatly packed in boxes. Now that you mention it, I do remember receiving white boxes, but I'm sure I have gray boxes, too.

Did the camera actually come in an 18% grey box? 🤣🤣🤣
