We all know how powerful photography is for preserving memories, so I thought I would share this special moment.

I had planned to drive to the gym but decided I had time instead, so I walked over. Our pool hadn’t opened yet, so I was stunned as I saw this beautiful creature casually paddling, seemingly without a care. I quickly grabbed my camera and carefully began shooting between the iron fence. Admittedly it’s not my best work, but capturing this memory was important for me.

I had just embarked on an adventure of writing a children’s storybook and was having one of those days when you questioned the decision to do such a project. Seeing this mallard was a sign to me. Why? My main character is a male mallard!
