How many of you do what I do? I come downstairs in the morning, turn on the computer, make coffee, and spend several hours on UHH and other sites. Years ago, I would come downstairs and actually do things. I have seventy-eight items on my To Do List, but here I am at the computer. I found that this is more enjoyable than cleaning the house, mowing the lawn, or bringing garbage to the dump.

It's taken me a while, but I've figured out a way to justify this. "You only go around once in life." Do I want to spend it doing what I want or doing chores? The answer is obvious. The house is clean enough, no one has complained about my lawn, and the garbage situation is under control.

Now, back to my various websites.

Not being critical of you but I have a neighbor that seems of the same mentality. He neglects everything and his home looks the shambles but I never say a word to him. I just chalk it up as there is one in every neighborhood.

I'm not quite that bad.

I'll have to be more careful about how I word things.

One comment, though. Someone on my street has Lawn Doctor come every few weeks. His lawn looks very nice, but from a distance, it doesn't look much different from my natural lawn.

Is it really any much different than many years ago when we read the newspaper front to back with a cup of coffee?

My grandfather and father would sit on the front porch open up the paper, hand the comics to my sister and me and then read the newspaper front to back before starting the day's farm chores.

I just wonder if those people with the artificial lawns have to vacuum those lawns periodically. Just a little tongue in cheek, here.

Mowing the lawn, working on my cars in the garage and doing general repairs around the house has kept me alive and healthy, and my cardiologist has been in agreement with my regime when I see him once a year, but… I still have my coffee and check UHH activity first thing in the morning.

I do something very similar. A lot depends on the weather. Nice day, out pulling weeds or other outside stuff. Nasty day, cleaning etc. A lot depends too on what time the wife gets up.

I'm in the same boat as you, skipper. I was fine until I joined UHH 7 years ago. Now,it's the first thing I do in the morning and it can last a while every day. Sometimes I don't go out for my morning walk. But, I enjoy it...sue me.

I'm sort of alone, except when my son is home from work. My list is "To Do," not "Have To Do."
