Focused Stacked Image of a Wasp Mouthparts

This is a focused stacked image of one of my preserved wasps that was staged with a Mitutoyo M Plan 10X APO microscope objective as the optic for the camera. The image shows the mandibles and complexity of the various mouthparts.

You are doing some awesome work! I never knew the complexity (and sometimes scary-ness!) of all these bugs we flippantly see every day. I don't have the equipment or passion for this type of work, but am glad you do.

Every thing shows symmetry, except for the hairs on the "arms." Symmetry is throughout nature.

UTMike said he loved the detailed parts... did I no, "love" is not the word I would use...

It is a good thing that when eccentric scientist Seth Brundle was teleported that this wasp was not in the transmitter pod with him. [the fly 1986]

Thanks, Randave2001. There are several parts that make up the insect mouth which is quite complex. This particular one is the Labium. I've attached an illustration of the various parts that make up the insect's mouthparts.
