Bishop Gorman vs Bonanza

This game had little to nothing of excitement. Final score 17-1 called after the third inning. It was no contest at all and a waste of my time. But these things happen in our world, every game can't be bottom of the ninth 3-2 pitch and the bases are full and running.
The sun was still a little high in the sky making exposures a challenge. Some pics. were spot metering and others regular.
All taken with a Nikon D4 paired with a 200-500 5.6 vr.
The one exciting play was a steal of second base and of course I was looking at the batter and a split second the runner takes off for second down mind you by 14 at the time. Go figure.
1/2500 at 6.3 the sweet spot for clarity on this lens.

...aside from your as-usual competent action shots, the candids add that intangible nuance to the grouping!

Still pulled off some great shots in a challenging contest. Nice job on the pics!

I actually appreciate your opening comments. Let's me know I am not the only one who feels that way some times. I try to draw upon my ball playing days to look for a particular play. I KNOW I would not have been looking for a stolen base attempt in the situation your described. But from a player's standpoint - why not? Nothing to lose and trying to salvage SOME fun!

Hang in there!

Thanks for your appreciation and comments. Frustrating at times for sure. Still can't believe it who steals down by 14. My coach would have strung me up. lol Oh and she was safe too. Ball was overthrown.

Another great set of pictures Jules regardless of the lopsided and very short game! I like the dust coming off the bat in the last photo of the Gorman player (not many pictures of Bishop), well done on timing for that photo. Most of the fields I attend in South Texas are astro-turf (some are natural).

Thanks Rick, I was kind of glad when the game was over. We have a few that are all astro-turf on the infield and outfield.. Just a bit of dirt on the pitching mound, and the bases. Kind of sucks. When I played I would come to the ballpark and smell the grass, the dirt, get dirty and play ball. That was the game, grimy, sweaty and feeling of accomplishment win or lose.
Have a good week.

Thanks so much chasgroh. I guess I was looking at mixing up the shots since there was nothing else going on. Just a bunch of walks turning into runs.

Caught EVERYONE by surprise it sounds like! Probably some performance clause in her contract based upon number of steals!! LOL!

Great shots Jules regardless of the details of the game. Very clear and crisp. I appreciate your metering. Best regards, Paul

Hey Jules,

Irregardless of the blow out game Jules, Your photos are astonishing.

From My view point, I don't think they could be any better given situation,
along with lots of sun time of the day.

Thanks for sharing, always great, entertaining, and I learn something.

Hi Tom. Thank you for the nice message.
I hope you’re doing well and feeling fine or at least better.
Stay safe and don’t be a stranger.
Shot a good softball game yesterday and will post soon.
Be well
Jules
