Sounds a bit odd, and not very fool-proof; in the menu, you can set the date to any date you want, even if it is the wrong date.

I realize that it is not foolproof, but it is what the immigration folks want to see, so that's what I am going to provide in my petition for immigration.

I guess Immigration doesn't realize you could add a false date to a print in an editing program.

You could easily change the date in camera...no?

I am told that when you do this, the folks at immigration can detect it, and will not accept the pictures as evidence of your visit.

I guess Immigration doesn't know that either. But if you didn't have a camera with a date stamp, you could add it with an editing program and not have to buy a new camera.

I don't know how they could detect it from a print. They probably tell people that to discourage them from cheating.

That is true, however I am finding pre-owned cameras for very reasonable prices, and since the only time I will use it his when I am taking point and shoot type photos for immigration documentation, why take a chance?
Your suggestion is a good one however.
Thank you

Or you could set the camera for whatever date you want.

You are probably correct, but for $40, why take a chance.

I am in the process of bringing my fiancé from the Philippines to America. Part of the immigration process is proving relationship. Immigration likes date stamped photos. Can anyone suggest a reasonable camera that will fulfill this function?

Thank you

Is the date printed photo a requirement? My wife is from Japan, she came 6 years ago after processing the fiance' visa. I used emails and photos, but none of my photos had date imprinted.

I am informed that at this time having the date imprinted on the photo makes things much easier, so I am going to hedge my bet.

On my 4x6 photos I wrote on the back of the photos with the date and informations. on the 2x2 it was signed with the date.
