DPReview revival?

Just came across https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66962353

At this point I would treat it as a rumor, but it appears that there is resistance to DPReview turning off. There are apparently several proposed sites that would take over where Amazon left off, but at this time it's a work in progress. Possibly DPRevived.com?

The boys have already signed on with PetaPixel.

DPRevived is an effort to keep the forum division (not the reviews) of DPR going, giving forum members an opportunity to re-convene in a familiar format. It's a home-grown project by some tech savvy members to salvage the community created over the years. It opened last night for those of us wanting to test it out. It's got a bunch of bugs as one would expect for a one day old forum created in such a hurry but it has promise.

I trust the facts reported at DPR, but none of the opinions. I’m not sure anything could revive that trust of opinions. Frankly, I don’t trust the opinions stated here - too many people view MILC as “the best thing since sliced bread”.

Never say never.

Like UHH, DPReview was made up of people. Like UHH, there are posters whose opinion I would trust and posters whose opinion I would not. And there are always posters who present opinions as facts.

I am an experimentalist. If I am presented with something purported to be a fact, I am likely to test it to see if it holds up. Similarly with opinions, although they are things that can't be proven without prior assumptions.

If DPRevival.com gets established I will take a look (when I have time).

DPRevived.com is functional and has enrolled over 900 refugees from DPR in less than 2 days. There is significant tech expertise among the founders so while they have glitches as any new forum built overnight might expect, they are solving them and moving forward at the same time. They are informing the citizenry about what they are doing and getting feedback as they go. At this point the build just involves the forums but they have plans to make it more. Watching a forum be born is pretty interesting. A certain amount of chaos, a lot of creativity.
