My wife's sister called a week or so ago and asked if she would be interested in their Grandmother's cast iron roaster. Turns out it's a Wagner Ware 1285 #5 Drip Drop Roaster from about the mid 20's. We know it's a fairly early model because the ridges in the top were changed to plain oval lines from the zig-zag pattern in the late 20's. A lot of the seasoning was scrapped away at some point so it will take time to reseason before it's used. Looking forward to some good eating.

I am not a Griswold, but my Nine times great grandfather was and the Griswold skillet makers also trace back to him making us cousins. Whenever we have chili and cornbread oven-cooked in the Griswold skillet, I feel like I am sitting down to eat with family.

That is very cool, I think I have some pictures of the workers in/at the Griswold and/or Wagner Foundry, at some point Griswold bought Wagner.
