Taken on one of our rare visits to the bustling metropolis! (slightly out of focus as I grabbed this while exiting our car!)

Very good, Sue. Nice composition and "balance."

Not much left of what I remember. Grew up there in the 50s and 60s.

You're right - all the former department stores migrated to the Fort Steuben mall which is now basically a ghost mall - there is now an attempt to resurrect the downtown by bringing in new tea shops and small businesses but it will never come close to what was.

Sue, it's a curious thing, but the more I look at this photo, the more I realize that the center of interest is not the hiker, it's the almost-invisible man way down the sidewalk. He sneaks up on you. It's very unusual and interesting.

Well back in the 50s there were about 35,000 people there. Now only about 18,000. So it will be very difficult to revitalize the downtown. Pittsburgh went from 600,000 to 370,000, Cleveland from close to 1 million to 385,000. The whole area was devastated with the demise of the steel and coal industries. Very sad.

Nice shot. I like the depth of field and composition. The focus is fine. :-)
