Kalm's lobelia Lobelia kalmii, also called Brook lobelia. Family: Campanulaceae, the bellflower family. A plant of wetlands and shores, native to the northern states in the U.S. from the Pacific Northwest to Maine, and across Canada. Lobelia is a large genus, with 415 named species worldwide, most of them native to tropical or warm temperate areas, A few, like Kalm's lobelia have more northern ranges. There are about 20 species found in the continental U.S., mostly found in the southeastern states. The last photo shows the intradunal wetland habitat along the Lake Michigan shore where I found these.

Very nice images. I've never seen a two-colored lobelia. This one's bluer than a cross-eyed carpenter's thumb.
