Idea for a Movie?

I can see this idea being used in a horror or sci-fi movie. The millions of DNA samples that people have sent in to be analyzed are being used for a nefarious purpose.

I'm not sending DNA to anyone not because I afraid its because it's not worth the money to find out something that I don't give a Rotund Rodents Rectum about.

According to my rotund rectum, my ancestry was confirmed. "I yam what I yam" (Popeye)

I heard they're going to try a Baskin & Robbins duplicate from acquired DNA:

'Course only the first one could claim to be the Original ice cream clone......

I come from great great grandfathers that lived in the small village in the center of England. Those people refused to pay taxes because they didn’t want to support the kingdom. If I go for a visit would I have to pay their back taxes?

If you are trying to find out where your ancestors come from it is just an scam or a parlor game.
They tests for too few genes to have any precision plus data available from most European populations is insufficient to have any precision. Eurasia has had for way too many Centuries if not milenia migrations and all mixes, the Americas even worse since original settlers came in several waves even from Polynesia.
It is an scam or just a game.
Not to be confused with forensic genetuc testing : many many more genes studied and just a very defined and small number of relatives tested

You probably know that you can have your dog's DNA analyzed.

Something that is not widely advertised is that once you send in, and pay for, a DNA test, the 'service' company then claims it owns 'those service results'.
Apparently your DNA is now owned by one or more of the companies that offer this information. As such it sells it, either to a highest bidder, insurance companies, and who know who else.

People also ask
Why did Blackstone buy Ancestry?
The company got its start in genealogy and has expanded into DNA testing and, more recently, advanced genetic health screening, in a bid to compete with 23andMe. The deal with Blackstone could help Ancestry as it looks to strengthen its position in the health space and expand into international markets.

And interestingly enough, pre-Blackstone's investment:

Who owns Ancestry com now?
Is Ancestory com owned by the Mormon Church?
In 2001, Mormon billionaire James Sorenson started one of the earliest genetic test kit companies, Relative Genetics, in part due to his religious interests. It was later bought by Ancestry.com, another Mormon company. While today, Ancestry is a publicly traded company, it uses LDS church records and the IGI.
