I'd like to know how this version was achieved. Would it be possible to get that info?

Once you have the power of mitigating at your disposal (as described elsewhere) you discover the extra leverage it gives you in your editing. One of the things I've discovered is that when you can push the contrast as far as mitigating allows you find that the image often benefits noticeably from the extra push to the contrast (that's true in general terms but of course there will be exceptions - this particular one is a positive example).

With this particular image, not only did I max out the Contrast slider in the Basic section in Lr, I also selected the whole image using the Adjustments brush (large with no feathering or auto masking) and gave it some more contrast via the brush. Adding extra adjustments via repeated applications of the brush - or alternatively repeated use of the Duplicate function within the brush - eventually produces a saturation point where no more adjustments or duplicating produce any further effect. I've never gone that far with Contrast but I frequently reach that limit with reducing Highlights.

I can't remember all of the specifics regarding the mitigating that I had to do with this one, but typically it involves subduing any over-harsh highlights and any over-solid darks. In extreme cases, lifting the Blacks and lowering the Whites will moderate any unwanted extremes while the Highlights and Shadows sliders can still be used for fine tuning as usual.

I also used pushing and mitigating with the saturation levels using the HSL tool to target the colours individually - which allows better optimisation.

As an extra part of my workflow, when I've finished doing whatever mitigating I've done I'll try an extra tweak to the original adjustment that I was pushing. Sometimes (but not always) the mitigating allows an extra push, even if the original push was quite generous. The mitigating helps to make it clearer how much extra pushing will work (if any). It's always worth a try - even repeated tries and repeated mitigating - if you find that you're getting away with it.

That's the main part of the editing. I also used a small WB shift to warm it up a bit and also used a touch of Split Toning to give the colour contrast a slight push.

Thank you Dave. Yes, I've been trying to moderate my use of HSL but I just can't seem to resist.....
