Hi I have an old bell and Howell slide cube project and it is very slow when it rotates. What could be wrong with it it should go fast

Mine got tired, worn out and quit. I still have lots of cubes!

I’ve never had one or used one but if it is rotating too slowly, I would suspect dried, hardened grease on the shafts and counter shafts between the motor and carousel. If you can see any of the drive train, some WD40 would probably soften things up. You might be careful to not get any lube on the projector bulb. No finger prints either.

My slide cube projector has lots of sliding surface area. The rotating table that ttransports the transparancies from the cube all the way around to the collection box has a lot of contact area with the body of the projector. This area needs to be cleaned. Do not lubricate with graphite. It is famous for "gumming up" and causing the problem you describe, as well as getting on the surface of your transparencies.

If you can't figure out how to disassemble the table to clean everything, try sliding a sheet of typing paper between the atationary and moving parts to burnish the two meeting surfaces clean.
