Yes, that was excellent and before its time. It makes you realize how stupid people in the movies are, but the writers base the characters on people in the real world. Sending random messages out into space to find aliens isn't something I would suggest. I doubt there are advanced civilizations out there, but would they be friendly?

We have warring fashions on Earth, why wouldn't/couldn't they exist elsewhere in the universe....
ie: the book the aliens had in one SCIFI movie "How to Serve Man"...
