B&H has an interview with a ‘pro’ who has shot JPEG exclusively for many years.

I didn’t read the whole thing, but the reason seems to be mainly historical - many years ago, another ‘pro’ advised him to avoid ‘raw’ because the technology of the time handled ‘raw’ poorly. I don’t want to start a fight that would send this thread to the Attic - so please don’t do it either - but I thought this was interesting.

OMG here we go again!! The pros and cons of each have been argued many times (and will be again). Pros and cons have not changed, opinions have not changed, battle lines have solidified, and both sides are dug into their trenches. The end result will be the same. But it definitely generates income for the web site so let the games begin.

The purpose of my posting the link was so that others could see it now, and as something I could find if a blowup over the subject emerges in the future. Typically people view this area as ‘where material goes to die unread’, but they will do what they will do.

If others want to battle over it, that is their doing. Since no one has any immediate questions, what I’ll do is to [unwatch] it.

You will miss all the fun if you unwatchable it! It will go at least 25 pages.

Not likely, since it went into Links and Resources. When you don't want that to happen, describe the link in the first post, then put it in a subsequent post.

I’ve never understood why people try to avoid Links and Resources. There is a lot of interesting things there.

Great stuff, surely, but it's out of the mainstream readership. Unless the link is just a reference, why would it not be left where it was posted?

I’m sure it’s an automated “search and if link then move” routine. I once requested admin move a post back that I felt should not have been moved, and admin moved it back.

Good to know admin will do that! Yeah, it has to be automated because it never fails...
