I am having a little trouble with my 70-200 f2.8 lens and so I took it out today to see if I could figure out if it needs to be sent into the factory to be repaired. I let the Auto focus on the lens do this shot. F2.8 200mm ISO 100 1/250 shutter speed. Would like any feedback that I could get concerning clarity, focus, color etc. I did crop it to a 4x5 crop. I was about 5 feet away from the flower for the shot

I think it's a really nice shot. It's well composed, the colours are nice, and the selective DOF is really good.

The right type of subject for the test. With the lens at f2.8 you wouldn't expect much DOF. Even in DDL I can't decide where the focal point the camera used it.

Thanks for the feedback the one flower almost in the middle is where I had my focal point set. Even at 2.8 I thought that one flower could have been sharper

Well f2.8 is certainly not the sweet spot for that lens. Try it at f8 and see the difference

i agree that f2.8 is not the sweet spot but at f8 the background will stand out. I may try it again at maybe 4 or 5.6
