Thanks Stan. I should have explained more about how these were done. The first was done at f/11 using 1mm focus increments. The second was done at f/2.8 using 0.5mm increments. Both stacks ended at the edge of the main subject. I used a manual focus rail. If I remember correctly, the first image required about 15-20 pictures and the second one required 30-some pictures. I learned early on that, for me, controlling the DOF was more important that getting everything in focus using this procedure.
