This is just after a recent heavy rain when my wife and I made the short drive just to see this.

Beautiful running water shot. I appreciate the faster shutter speed to eliminate the whipped cream effect

Thanks for the feedback. I’m finding that I usually prefer the crisper effect too.

Nice image. My eye is immediately drawn to the rocks, running water, and the nest-like thing by the frame created by the two branches. But then my eye kept sneaking over to the out-of-focus branch in the lower left. I might consider removing that in post to see how the image looks. I also prefer a faster shutter speed for moving water. I take both but usually prefer the stop-action look.

Thanks for the feedback and the note about the water. I see what you mean about the branch in the lower left. There’s some advice I just learned after this which is to sleep on it, wait a day before posting and give it a look with fresh eyes.

Nice water shot! Thanks for not making it look like cotton candy.

Thanks, John. I had another view from a bridge while the river was still muddy. The fast exposure was crisp and looked like water. The long exposure looked like the chocolate river in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory.

That is a wonderful shot; don't change anything.

Thank you very much. What are your thoughts on the branch in the lower left corner? Honestly I tried to heal it out with an iPhone app but it was ugly and botched, and I didn’t want to put the time into it at the moment.

Maybe making it a darker shade of brown, like some of the other branches, would suffice.

I think that’s the solution I’d go with. I’ve burned down distractions other times and it would probably work here, also.

My take on your photograph.

I like your photo including the strong deep colors of different browns and blacks. It's a very sharp photo maybe too sharp. Did you sharpen or add texture and clarity? If so and if mine I would tame it down a small amount by reducing texture and clarity. The tree limb in the lower left doesn't bother me a bit, it is what was there. I think the stop action of the water is wonderful. We see so much of the longer exposure shots of water getting that misty look all so common place now. All in all very nice.

Hi Jim, thanks for your constructive critique. Yes I did sharpen it a little so that’s an interesting thought to consider. Is this from viewing it at 100%? If it were in a contest would the judges all agree that it’s over-sharpened?
