Nice shots. Reminds me of the days when I was an entomology student looking for bugs. Spent time at the Southwestern Research Station in Portal, Madera Canyon and up around Payson.

I greatly enjoyed the Sonoran Desert when visiting Tucson a few years ago. Thanks for the memories.

Lucky guy. SWRS Portal would be a great assignment. Madera Canyon is my favorite summer birding area. Did you continue in entomology?

A fun but dangerous area if you don't know what you're doing. Used to spend time in the back country but since I've aged (79) I don't get far from the road anymore

To a certain extent. I got my Ph.d. at UC Riverside in California. Although my major was in entomology my minors were in ecology and vertebrate zoology. I used my entomological knowledge when I worked in the agricultural chemical business developing new pesticides. I was more interested in ecology. I ended up working for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

I think I was around 79 (I'll be 86 next month.) I think I remember some jeep roads that I walked on... not sure. I didn't go anywhere that I couldn't see where I was stepping.
